When I first put up this blog I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or if I would even like doing it. I can happily say that I truly love taking pictures of my food and writing about it. But what really thrills me the most are all the lovely comments from my readers. Readers who span the globe on 6 continents, reaching out and visiting me in my little corner of cyberspace here in New York City. I want to thank all of you who have been visiting me from the beginning and for those of you who are new to my blog. Old friends and new friends who I have met along the way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful comments on here and in private messages and emails. I truly appreciate them and it inspires me to cook more.

Thank you,

Sandi

Saucy Asian Meatballs

I am now a member of Pinterest and I came across these wonderful meatballs on there by a food blog called Gimme Some Oven.  I knew that I had to make them as they just looked amazing!!  They are really easy to make and you can make them in advance and then just heat them up about 15 minutes before serving.  They are wonderful to serve to a crowd of people.  The blogger of the original recipe stuck in little wooden forks for easy eating as an appetizer.  I served these with a side of low fat fried rice.  I hope you enjoy them as much as my family and I did.

Saucy Asian Meatballs
serves 6-8

Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients:
2 lbs. ground pork or ground beef
2 tsp. sesame oil
1 cup Panko or breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
2 eggs
3 tsp. minced garlic
1/2 cup thinly-sliced green onions

Asian Sauce Ingredients:

2/3 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. sesame oil
1 tsp. ground ginger

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400.

In a large bowl, mix together meatball ingredients until well-combined.  Shape into balls (I made mine about 1.5 inches, which yielded about 35 meatballs, but 1 inch is probably standard), and place on a greased baking sheet or in a 9×13 baking dish.  Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until meatballs are golden on the outside and no longer pink on the inside.

While the meatballs are baking, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients until blended.  Once meatballs have finished cooking, you can either dip each meatball individually (using a toothpick) in the sauce mixture.  Or you can pour the sauce over the meatballs and gently stir them until covered.
Serve warm, and sprinkle with additional green onions, if desired.

Enjoy!

  2. Hi Sandi, I can do it for you - but just for next time, all you do is click on the title of the post you want to link up and then copy the url (thats all the stuff in your browser bar) then you just paste it into the Mr Linky box asking for the url and then put your name and the name of the recipe in the name box and then click the Mr Linky box.

If you would like to give it a go yourself go ahead and I'll wait a wee while and if your link doesn't turn up I'll put it in for you.

    Good luck.
